Abura thrives in the coastal forests of the West Africa from Sierra Leone and Liberia to Cameroon and Gabon.

Also known as bahia (Ivory Coast), subaha (Ghana), mboi (Sierra Leone), elolom (Cameroon) and elolom nzam ( Gabon). Related timber from Uganda is sold as nzingu.

Its color is pinkish beige to dark brown
